Dear Grain's pastry program blends European and North American baking traditions with creative ingredient combinations and gluten-free and vegan options. We are committed to using high quality ingredients like Sterling Churn 84 butter and Valrhona chocolate; and we support local agriculture and thereby get to work with the best fruits and vegetables. Like our bread program, we find flavour in alternative flours grown and milled in Canada (the flour can be the flavour!).  From confectionary to our homemade preserves, we pride ourselves in making everything from scratch.

COOKIES

Chocolate Chip Cookie
Our chocolate chip cookies are crispy on the outside and soft & chewy in the middle. Made with high quality milk, dark chocolate callets, high fat Ontario butter, and organic flour.

Oatmeal Cookie
The oatmeal cookie starts with browned high fat Ontario butter and is packed with rolled oats, house candied orange peel, currants, Valrhona caramelized white chocolate, and toasted walnuts.

Ginger Sandwich Cookie
Two chewy molasses and rye flour cookies studded with candied ginger are sandwiched with our tangy house-made raspberry jam.

Peanut Butter Cookie
A master class in textures– crispy outer edges yield to a tender centre, punctuated by bursts of crunchy house-made peanut brittle, and finished with a sprinkling of Maldon salt for the perfect salty-sweet experience.

 

GLUTEN FREE DESSERTS

Brownie Bar (GF)
Our rich & truffle-like brownie is swirled with tangy sour cream and topped with crunchy cocoa nibs, and it's gluten-free to boot.

Blondie Bar (GF)
The gluten-free blondie bar uses browned butter and brown sugar for a deep caramel flavour, gilding the lily with a rotating seasonal topping (e.g. house dulce de leche and cashews, or house strawberry jam and oat streusel).

Granola (V + GF + Nut-free)
The perfect on-the-go healthy snack; suitable for vegans and it's made without gluten or refined sugar! This bar is packed with tart sour cherries, sweet dates, chocolatey cocoa nibs, hemp hearts, flax seeds, and nutty with rich tahini.

Buckwheat Chocolate Chip (V + GF)
The buckwheat chocolate chip cookie is vegan and gluten-free (but you'd never know it.) Buckwheat is a perfect foil to dark chocolate, finished with a sprinkling of Maldon salt to top it off.
